A portion of Highway 403 in Burlington has reopened after a vehicle struck a construction worker operating machinery early Friday morning.

Ontario Provincial Police say it happened around 4 a.m. on the highway near Waterdown Road.

Investigators say a vehicle collided with a boom operator in a construction zone.

The construction worker was taken to hospital with serious injuries, while the driver of the other vehicle was uninjured.

All eastbound lanes of Highway 403 were closed at Waterdown Road, but have since reopened.

Ontario’s ministry of labour is now investigating.
