Concern about Skyway closures

The Burlington Skyway bridge is slated for closures as crews resurface the busy roadway.

East Hamilton MPP Paul Miller says the Ontario government didn’t consult city council about the closures, and the impact it will have on traffic congestion. However finance minister Charles Sousa insists there were discussions.

“The council and mayor as of last week have been consulted and are looking at ways of alleviating traffic during that construction. Those consultations are being had.”

The Skyway will close completely for 18 weekends over the next three years as crews resurface the Toronto-bound lanes of the QEW. The closures will take place overnight and traffic will be diverted to Eastport Drive.

Miller believes this will affect many people in the Hamilton area.
