Collision leads to natural gas meter being struck in Oakville: police

Halton police are warning of a heavy presence of emergency responders in Oakville following a vehicle collision involving a natural gas meter Wednesday evening.
Few details have been released by police at this time, though officers say the gas meter was struck as a result of the collision.

The area of Lakeshore Road East and Thomas Street, where the collision occurred, remains blocked off as crews attend to the scene.
Officials have not confirmed how many vehicles were involved or if anyone has been injured at this time.
In an update on social media, police said that evacuations in the surrounding area were not required and the area remains contained as responders wait for crews from Union Gas to arrive.
Drivers are asked to avoid the area at this time.
