Closures to the Burlington Lift Bridge

The Burlington Lift Bridge will be closed for parts of Thursday according to a press release from Public Works and Government Services Canada.
They are advising motorists, pedestrians and cyclists that there will be three short-term closures on the Burlington Canal Lift Bridge beginning at 1pm. The closure should last between 15 to 30 minutes over a period of approximately two hours.
The bridge will re-open for a period to clear traffic between each closure.
Pedestrians and cyclists will not have access to the bridge during the closures.
These closures are required as part of the project to replace the bridge’s controls, drives and cables.
Short term closures of the bridge or individual lanes will continue to occur periodically during the project.
The Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) will be replacing key components of the bridge’s lift system which should extend its serviceable life, meeting the needs of both marine and vehicular traffic in the area.
The schedule may change due to weather conditions or logistical requirements.
