City of Hamilton connecting with businesses with employment survey

The City of Hamilton is launching an employment survey with a goal of connecting with every business operating in the city this summer.

In a project described by Mayor Andrea Horwath as “building Hamilton through our business community”, the city is taking a step to shape development plans around the businesses that call Hamilton home.

A team of students has been assembled to refresh city employment data after the pandemic forced a break in data collection since 2019.

The team will be using geographic mapping technology along with a two-minute questionnaire to shape immediate and long-term planning and development while also looking at the details of employment and land use in the city.

Any information that is collected through the survey will be consolidated and made confidential, with information from individual businesses not being shared.

Business owners can have their voices heard in the survey online or by providing responses directly to the student team who will be making visits to businesses with information for follow-ups.
