City of Hamilton exceeds 700 active COVID-19 cases for first time

The city of Hamilton continues to see its COVID-19 numbers grow as the total active cases reaches 716.

Hamilton added an additional 88 cases on Sunday. On Saturday, the city saw its daily increase reach a record high of 142 cases. The total number of cases is 4,162.

The city is also reporting two more deaths. Both are women from Grace Villa Nursing Home, one in her 90s and the other in her 80s. The total number of COVID-related deaths in the city is 114.

Grace Villa remains Hamilton’s largest outbreak at 132 total cases, which includes 77 residents and 55 staff. There were no new outbreaks announced today, however Shalom Village Nursing Home has jumped to 48 cases after totaling just seven on Friday.

Ontario reported 1,677 new cases of COVID-19 today after completing nearly 58,200 tests.

The Niagara region reported 71 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, a single-day high for the region, while Halton announced 47 new cases and three more deaths.
