The City of Burlington is seeking submissions for its annual Local Artists Program to fund the creation of three new murals.

The program commissions local artists to create murals throughout the city annually.

This year, two awards of $6,500 are being offered for murals at the Waterfront parking garage on Locust Street on both the exterior and interior walls.

The City says the exterior mural will act as a “Welcome to Burlington” sign, while the other will cover the interior.

An additional $1,000 award will bring art to Lampman Park, where the mural will cover a small water system safety cover box.

In each case, the award will be for the design only and the city will cover the costs of materials and installation.

New art, as well as reformatted existing pieces are eligible for submission by the deadline of Feb. 16.

Installation and the project launch is expected to come in May.

Full details about the program and artist submissions can be found on the city’s website.
