City looking to expand disabled rec offerings
Hamilton is hoping to offer more recreational programs for people with disabilities.
City council members are reviewing a report received today that details 53 ways to improve recreation for the disabled. The study found the city lacked activities geared toward disabled children, and adults between the ages of 18 and 35. These include sports and fitness programs, art classes and summer camps.
To improve that, it is recommended the city ensure that every accessible facility offers specialized programs for disabled people. The report also recommends collaboration between the city and local organizations to provide more resources and opportunities to the disabled.
