City of Hamilton working quickly to clear out rotting waste

The City of Hamilton is working quickly in this heat to neutralize the stench from its central composting plant.
The city is still clearing out rotting waste at the facility on Burlington Street East to identify and address the odour problem.
In this heatwave, it’s also added neutralizers to deal with the added smell of moving the piles of composting waste out of the building. the move and cleanout is expected to last at least another week.
In the meantime, if you live in Hamilton, you’re asked to continue putting food waste in your green bin for collection. But put any yard waste in a marked container or paper compost bag for separate collection.
