Christie Lake closed due to possible blue-green algae

The beach and swimming area at Christie Lake Conservation area is now closed to both swimmers and animals due to the possible presence of blue-green algae.

People who come into contact or ingest blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) may experience skin irritation, rash, sore throat, sore red eyes, swollen lips, fever, nausea, vomiting and/or diarrhea.

The Ministry of Environment has collected samples from several shorelines which has been sent for testing.
