This summer has been one residents of Chippawa would rather forget.
A putrid odour of hydrogen sulphide, which smells like rotten eggs, has been smothering the village.
Niagara Region says there’s no health risk. But the stench has been scaring off visitors and keeping people inside their homes.
Niagara Region is building a new combined sewer overflow tank at the pumping station. It will hold seven million litres of waste water and it is an effort to control flooding in the area.
Niagara Region says the hydrogen sulphide parts/million is very low, but some residents say it’s making them sick.
It’s going to take months to finish this project, it’ll be operational in the new year.
