Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating after a young boy was chased by two males in Wingham, Ont.

It happened around 2:30 p.m. Thursday on Shuter St.

Police say a group of children, aged seven to 14, were out for a walk when an eight-year-old boy started to lag behind the rest of the kids.

They say a white van pulled up beside the boy and two males quickly got out and started chasing him.

The child was able to run away from the pair and meet back up with the other children.

The van was last seen travelling northbound on Shuter, where it turned left and headed westbound on Charles St.

Investigators say the first suspect was wearing a balaclava, black pants and a black shirt. The second had grey hair and was dressed in all black. They are also looking to identify the driver of the van who is described as being a man in his thirties, with facial hair. He was wearing a black hat during the incident.

Police say the van had a sliding passenger door and two barn-style rear doors.

Anyone with information is asked to contact OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
