Chicken nuggets recalled due to possible salmonella contamination

Loblaw Companies Ltd. is recalling select packages of chicken nuggets over concerns of a possible salmonella contamination.
President’s Choice brand Pub Recipe Chicken Nuggets with a best before date of “2018 MR 15” and UPC 060383171315 that were sold before July 13 may pose a risk to consumers if they are improperly prepared.
The affected products were sold in stores nationally including Fortinos, Loblaws, No Frills, Real Canadian Superstore, valu-mart, Your Independent Grocer, Zehrs, Wholesale Club, Shoppers Drug Mart and affiliated independent stores.
Loblaws says its recalling the product “out of an abundance of caution.” The company has removed the packages from store shelves and says customers can return the product to anywhere President Choice products are sold for a full refund.
The recall was triggered by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) during its investigation into a food-borne illness outbreak.
The CFIA says there have been reported illnesses associated with the consumption of the product.
Symptoms of a salmonella infection usually start six to 72 hours after exposure and can include fever, chills, diarrhea, abdominal cramps, headache, nausea and vomiting.
