Checking Thorold water
People in Thorold have been told their drinking water may not be safe, following a large fire at a scrap yard last week.
Anyone who lives or works near North Eastern Ferrous Metals and gets their water from a private well are being told to drink bottled water until they can have their wells tested.
There are fears the wells may have been contaminated during the fire.
Officials say the municipal drinking water is safe.
Niagara region’s public health department says anyone between the south side of Turner Road, the north side of the railway tracks, the west side of Allanport Road and all the way west to the Welland Canal should have their water tested.
