Charges laid in toddler death

Charges have been laid in the death of a Milton toddler left in a hot car last week.

Maximus Huyskens, 2, died last Wednesday after he was left alone in a hot car for several hours. Homicide detectives have arrested the toddler’s maternal grandmother who was looking after him at the time.

The car was was parked outside his family’s townhome.

His father was at work and his mother was at an appointment at the time. Leslie McDonald, 51, of Milton, has been charged with criminal negligence causing death and failing to provide the necessities of life. She was released on bail and will appear in a Milton court on August 14th.
