We have new details tonight about the shooting incident which prompted an SIU investigation in Brantford Tuesday afternoon.

Brantford police aren’t saying much about yesterday’s shooting, because the province’s Special Investigations Unit is involved; but they did release the names of the people involved.

Officers surrounded a vehicle in a plaza parking lot just after 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon. The driver of the vehicle drove towards officers in an attempt to flee the scene; the female passenger was hurt after falling out of the moving car. Officers shot at the car, but didn’t hit either of the occupants.

The man left the car a few blocks away and fled on foot. He was tracked down in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Charing Cross Street, where it’s believed the two people arrested live.

Richard Bomberry, 25, is charged with:

  • -Trafficking in a controlled drug – Cocaine
  • -Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
  • -Dangerous operation of a vehicle
  • -Flight from police
  • -Criminal negligence causing bodily harm

Hillary Robertson, 22, is charged with:

  • -Trafficking in a controlled drug – Cocaine
  • -Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
  • -Possession of a controlled drug – Marijuana
  • -Disobeying a court order

CHCH News tracked the licence plate number of the car they were driving. It comes back to a different owner, but Brantford police won’t confirm if the car was stolen.
