The CBC calls the results of a report into the handling of the Jian Ghomeshi scandal “troubling” and “disappointing”.

Outside investigator Janice Rubin spoke with 99 people over the last five months to prepare the report. She made eight recommendations, including establishing a confidential workplace hotline, and establishing a “respect at work and human rights” ombudsperson.

A letter to CBC employees says upper management will implement as many of the recommendations as possible. The broadcaster has fired with the executive director of radio, Chris Boyce, and the head of human resources, Todd Spencer.

On a conference call this afternoon, CEO Hubert LaCroix said “We received this report with humility and in the constructive spirit in which it was intended.”

“The findings of this report are troubling, they’re disappointing and they point to lapses in our system and concerns about our culture.”

Ghomeshi was fired last October after several women came forward with sex and assault allegations. He is facing seven counts of sexual assault and one of choking.

CHCH’s Kate Carnegie will have reaction to the investigation’s findings on the Evening News tonight at 6.
