Investigators now know what caused a huge 6-alarm fire at a Toronto apartment last September.

The Fire Marshal’s Office says a cigarette that landed on materials stored on a balcony sparked the blaze at on Wellesley Street East.

Officials are calling this a case of hoarding and say the large amounts of clutter in the apartment posed a fire risk.

The fire spread to several units, and all 711 units in the 30 floor building were evacuated.
