Cat poisoning update

Investigators have ruled out foul play in the deaths of eight cats in central Hamilton.

In August, authorities were notified after pet owners in the Barton, Sherman, King Street area became worried that someone was poisoning their pets. An investigation has determined the cats died from complications of distemper, a viral disease of the parvo-virus family. Parvo-viruses can survive in the environment for weeks to months and are only killed by strong disinfectants like bleach.
