Captain John’s seafood restaurant has finished its final journey from Toronto to a scrap yard in Port Colborne.
The floating restaurant was moored at the foot of Yonge Street for the past 40 years.
It was sold last year to pay debts of owner John Letnik, but that deal fell through, resulting in Ports Toronto, Waterfront Toronto and Cityzen Developments paying the cost of towing the ship away.
The trip across Lake Ontario to Port Weller was completed by late afternoon Thursday. It was then inspected before beginning the journey through the Welland Canal.
Before coming to Canada, the ship was former Yugoslavian President Tito’s private yacht.
