Canal walkway closure not stopping trail users

Low water levels and ice have forced officials in Hamilton to close the floating walkway on the Waterfront Trail that connects Princess Point with Bayfront Park.

The floating bridge area has pulled away from the shore, and the metal ramp which connects the bridge to the trail has broken off. It has only shifted about a foot but is now very unstable.

CHCH’s Sean Leathong has observed a number of people going for a walk, or a run down here completely ignoring the sign which says that the trail is closed.
