Canadian officials have spoken out about a Burlington teacher trapped behind bars in Indonesia.

Neil Bantleman and a colleague have been held without charges for three months as police investigate sex abuse claims involving students.

Wednesday it was announced that Bantleman will face a trial on the charges.

HIs family says they don’t have any details on the charges yet or the trial, but they`re hoping to know more by the end of the week.

CHCH contacted Foreign Affairs, and they replied, “We are aware of the latest developments in this case and are monitoring the situation closely. Canadian consular officials are providing assistance as required, and remain in contact with the family.”
