For many, the Canadian International Air Show marks the end of the CNE and in turn, the summer. On it’s 66th year, the show is looking to excite audiences with some new performances. Phil Perkins took a first hand look at one of them.

Performing at the Canadian International Air Show for the first time, the ‘Screamin’ Sasquatch’ is set to be a fan favourite.

The aircraft is a biplane fitted with a jet engine that boasts 4500 pounds of thrust.

So when offered a ride in it’s tandem plane Phil couldn’t say no. However, before he voluntarily turned his stomach, he figured he would speak with some people with flight experience first.

“Just relax and have a good time, that’s all I can say.” said glider instructor Carrie Merrill.

Speaking of relaxed, you couldn’t find a more tranquil person than Blue Jays’ pitcher R.A.. Dickey.  The knuckleballer blasted off before Phil and really put things into perspective.

“It’s a once in a lifetime thing. It’s a beautiful day, beautiful city, just try to enjoy it.”

So after Phil signed his life away and tried to figure out which lever is the parachute,  it didn’t take long for the fun to start.

For some reason,  pilot Jeff Boerboon trusted him to perform the first aerial stunt, but when he took back the controls that’s when it went from good to great.

If you’re interested in getting your kids involved, the cadets have a pretty affordable admission fee

“It’s completely free, we want to get everyone involved as much as possible.  Just all the young kids out there that don’t know about it.  Just so many people have gotten a great experience out of it.”said Merrill.
