Canadian border agents seize over $10 million worth of cocaine

Canadian officials have laid charges after preventing over $10 million worth of cocaine from entering the country.

Border agents say they have seized approximately 419 kilograms of suspected cocaine with an estimated value of $11 million at the Blue Water Bridge port of entry in Point Edward, Ont.

On Feb. 27, border agents found 86 kilograms of suspected cocaine with an estimated value of $2.3 million in a commercial truck coming from the United States.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) has charged 34-year-old Pawandeep Dhillon of Innisfil for importation of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

A week later on March 6, border agents stopped another transport truck and seized 333 kilograms of suspected cocaine with an estimated value of $9 million.

As a result, 23-year-old Ravinderbir Singh of Brampton was charged with importation of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

The drivers and suspected narcotics are now in RCMP custody.
