Canada’s job vacancy rate remains at record high

Statistics Canada says the number of job vacancies climbed significantly in June reaching a new high as employers were looking to fill more than one million positions for a third consecutive month.

According to Stats Can job vacancies in the accommodation and food services sector were over 170,000 in June, which is up compared to May.

Stats Can says the biggest jump in job vacancies was in the healthcare and social assistance sector which was up over 40 per cent compared to June 2021.
