Statistics Canada’s latest report shows inflation dropped to 2.3 per cent in March, that’s a 0.3 per cent decrease from February.

The decrease comes shortly after the federal government removed the consumer carbon tax, making prices cheaper at the gas pump.

StatCan says that taking gasoline out of the equation would have put inflation at 2.5 per cent in March.

The Bank of Canada is expected to announce their next interest rate decision and release their monetary policy report April 16.
