Canada Post back to full service levels for domestic parcels

Canada Post has said it has reinstated on-time service guarantees and returned to full service levels for domestic parcels.
In a news release the Crown Corporation thanked Canadians for their patience as they worked to “restore normal operations while managing significant holiday volumes” following the month-long strike.
“While we’ve stabilized our operations and taken care of the parcels in our network, we continue to work through higher volumes of mail,” it added.
South of the border the U.S. Postal Service said it resumed acceptance of mail and packages to Canada starting Jan. 6.
“Canada Post has made significant progress in clearing delayed volumes caused by their employee strike, and now commercial and retail customers, as well as those using online systems, will be able to send mail and packages to Canada once again,” it said.
Canada Post added that the return to normal processing and delivery levels across the country includes rural and remote areas, and that neighbourhood and international mail will see some delays.
Canadian Union of Postal Workers employees began the strike on Nov. 15 and it was suspended on Dec. 17 following a Canada Industrial Relations Board ruling.
The strike may start again on May 22 depending on interim negotiations.
