It’s the eve of Canada day and although the holiday falls in the middle of the week this year, lots of our fellow compatriots plan to celebrate all things maple on July 1st.

Dundurn Castle is a great place to celebrate Canadian Military history tomorrow evening. There will be a tattoo performed by our local pipes and drums reservist band, also a ceremonial guard and cavalry squad will be demonstrating on the grounds.

Hamilton’s waterfront is the place to be for fireworks when the sun goes down but the party starts much earlier. The food trucks start rolling up to Bayfront and Pier 4 parks at 6pm and free shuttle buses will take you there from downtown.

Burlington also celebrates on the waterfront and crowds are expected to start gathering at Spencer Smith Park bright and early, a 9am run is followed by yoga and in the afternoon the entertainment starts on two stages.

The water at Webster’s Falls will be behind the Greensville optimist picnic in the park, you can pack a basket at home or buy burgers fries and ice cream.

Wild Waterworks is giving $3 off for anyone who shows up wearing red and white, you can ride the slides and play Canada-themed games.

And the Royal Botanical Garden’s Canada day entertainment starts at noon.
