Burlington scouts ask for help from community after trailer full of gear is stolen

A Burlington scouts group is asking the community for help after someone stole a trailer containing all of their camping equipment.
Back in October, a trailer belonging to 1st Port Nelson Scouts was taken.
“We’ve lost everything – tents, stoves, lanterns, cooking gear and more – all of which was either purchased or collected over the past 30 years,” said Colin Ballantyne, 1st Port Nelson Group Commissioner and a 25-year volunteer with the organization. “We need help to replace this gear so we can continue to offer quality outdoor programming for youth, which is especially important now during COVID.”
It is estimated the trailer and its contents were worth roughly $25,000.
The scouts reported the theft to Halton police, but the trailer still hasn’t been found.
The group has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help replace the stolen equipment.
