(Updated) Police believe the death of a Caledon snowboarder at the Blue Mountain resort near Collingwood, was nothing more than an accident.

Taylor Ogram, 20, was found in a copse of trees near the south base lodge, at about 1 am.

Ogram was an Engineering student at Western University, and was there with a group of friends skiing for reading week. He was supposed to meet his friends at 10 o’clock when the slopes closed. When he didn’t show up and his friends couldn’t reach him on his phone, they alerted security at about 11 o’clock at night.

Security brought in the OPP and it was finally one o’clock in the morning when they found him without vital signs, once again, in those trees. Police told CHCH News Ogram could have lost control and found himself in those trees, or he could have been skiing there out of bounds. A number of snowboarders at Blue Mountain have said it’s not uncommon to go into areas like that on purpose.

The OPP say his injuries are consistent with somebody who has fallen and perhaps hit a tree.
