Burris talks Ticats ahead of Home Opener

One of the many storylines for the Tiger-Cats home opener against the Ottawa Redblacks tomorrow night, is the return of Henry Burris.
The future hall-of-famer was unceremoniously dumped by the Ticats in January after leading the team into the Grey Cup game.
After two years with the black and gold, Burris comes to town with the Redblacks.
His shoulder pads will be covering a “large chip.” At a press conference Friday, Burris explained his version of the off-season events.
“As soon as the Cup was over, my agent started making calls to get the ball rolling.”
After being told repeatedly by the club they would get back to him, Burris says he felt that sinking feeling.
“So I told my agent, I don’t think I’m coming back here. I don’t believe it’s going to happen. So when I got the call, I felt my heart drop like, dang that was crazy.”
The Ottawa Redblack is not shy about his feelings about his former team.
“You think you get somebody who takes an organization to a level they haven’t been to since 1999..but it is what it is. It’s a dog eat dog world and I found out that’s how they do business.”
Burris says the key is moving on.
“One man’s loss is another man’s treasure. It doesn’t do me any good to take the team aspect away from it. I do what I can do to help win games.”
