Burlington St. brewery delays

The former Lakeport Brewery in Hamilton is close to producing beer again, but it’s taking a little longer than expected.
At the Nickel Brook brewery in Burlington, production moves at a furious pace but when asked about their move to their new home in Hamilton, owner John Ramano says that like pouring his product, it’s best to be patient. “It’s finally all coming together. Everything is at it’s final stretch and it’s going to be very soon.”
With full production still over a month away, last May it was announced that Nickel brook brewing along with collective arts brewing of Toronto would begin operating out of the old Lakeport brewery in Hamilton under the banner of “arts and science” and opening day was set for spring of 2015.
When Labatt closed the Lakeport brewery in 2010, everything was gutted and the space left empty. Retrofitting the brewery has meant shipping equipment in from Nova Scotia and some new construction to bring the building up to code.
At their current facility in Burlington, Nickel Brook brews 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, that’s because their demand is so high and they’re running out of room, so this move for them can’t happen soon enough.
