Burlington reinstates downtown parking fees

The City of Burlington is reinstating downtown parking fees.
Fees will be required for on-street and municipal parking lots starting Aug. 4.
The city says review of data and feedback from the public suggest parking is increasing to pre COVID-19 levels.
Parking demand is expected to continue to rise.
“As our community begins to enjoy more activities with Stage 3 reopening, we’ve seen an increase in parking demand and desire to manage supply and revenues,” said Burlington Mayor Marianne Meed Ward.
She said discussions are also underway about returning some of the 20-minute curbside pickup to regular paid parking.
The city is urging people to use the HONK Mobile app to pay for parking because it reduces the number of people touching parking machines.
