Burlington man faces sexual assault charges

A 53-year-old Burlington man faces sexual assault charges in an incident involving a child.

Halton police say the man met the victim on an online dating site. The two met in person at a home in Burlington Saturday night.

Police say the victim, who was a 15-year-old boy, was sexually assaulted inside the home.

They say the man knew the person he was meeting was underage.

The victim notified police, who opened an investigation. Officers executed a search warrant on Wednesday.

Peter Eerhard, 53, of Burlington has been charged with:

• Invitation to Sexual Touching
• Sexual Assault
• Sexual Interference
