A Burlington man is among four people arrested by York Regional Police after a jewellery store robbery in Richmond Hill Tuesday afternoon.

Officers say they responded to a commercial robbery at a jewellery store in the area of Yonge Street and Levendale Road just after 3:30 p.m.

They say it was reported that three male suspects were using hammers to smash glass cases.

Police say the three allegedly fled in a silver sports utility vehicle driven by a fourth suspect soon after.

First responders say one employee received minor injuries from an alleged assault by one of the suspects.

Officers say they followed the suspect’s vehicle into the City of Toronto with the use of department’s helicopter, where they found the vehicle parked at an apartment complex in the area of Highway 27 and Finch Avenue.

They say the suspects fled into a wooded area, where they were arrested soon after.

Detectives say the vehicle used to escape was confirmed to be stolen.

Officers arrested two men in their 20s and two teenage boys with charges including robbery with an offensive weapon, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and disguising with intent.

20-year-old Che Brooks-Baptiste from Burlington was one of the men charged following the robbery.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
