Burlington company fined $90,000 in workplace incident

A Burlington manufacturer has been fined in connection with a workplace incident that took place in 2019.
The Ministry of Labour says a worker at Cogent Power Inc. was injured when they got caught in moving machinery that hadn’t been equipped with a guard, as legally required.
It says the incident occurred as the worker was training another employee on how to use the machine.
The ministry says Cogent Power pleaded guilty to an Occupational Safety Act violation last week.
The company was fined $90,000.
