Burlington bailing out after deluge

Homeowners are bailing out after massive rains dumped a month’s worth of precipitation on Burlington, flooding basements and roads.

One of the worst flooded streets was the railway underpass on Appleby Line between Harvester Road and Fairview where the water was near the roof of a car.

Police closed some streets that became too dangerous to travel until water levels subsided. Many vehicles stalled in deep water.

Hundreds of residents reported flooded basements.

The storm avoided Hamilton on the west and Mississauga on the east.
