Bulldogs ticket to RIDE
Hamilton Police are issuing Bulldogs tickets to sober drivers in RIDE lanes.
Police and the Hamilton Bulldogs have partnered up to remind drivers not to drink and drive. Starting today, police are handing out hockey vouchers to every driver who successfully goes through the check points. The vouchers can be exchanged for a free ticket to a select game.
Sergeant Doug Jonovich says the efforts are paying off. “Over our increased RIDE effort over the year, we’ve noticed a 30 per cent increase of over 80 charges and decrease of 40 per cent personal injury collision over last year.”
Hamilton Bulldogs president Stephen Ostaszewicz: “I think they’re caught a little bit off guard given the time and day we’re doing this. But I think they understand the importance of not drinking and driving, whether it’s 9 o clock in the morning or 11 o clock at night. So they appreciate what we’re doing out here for public safety.”
Over the next two months, 5,000 Hamilton Bulldog vouchers are up for grabs.
