Police in Brantford are on the hunt for a man after a 15 year-old girl was abducted from her backyard and sexually assaulted.

It happened around 1 a.m. Thursday in the Fairview Drive area.

Police say the girl heard a noise in her backyard she thought was her cat. When she went to investigate, she was grabbed by an unknown man and forced on a 1 km route to a public area where she was sexually assaulted.

She then fled and ran to a nearby residence and called police.

CHCH News spoke to several residents who are shocked and disturbed.

Officers aren’t saying exactly where the assault happened, but are asking any store owners on Fairview Drive between Wayne Drive and Wayne Gretzky Parkway to review their surveillance footage between 12:30 a.m and 2:30 a.m Thursday for images of a man and a 15 year old girl.

The K-9 unit was also brought in. They tracked the full kilometre and found evidence along the way.

Police say the man is 6′ 0 tall with a medium build and a beard. He was wearing a black hoodie with a kangaroo pocket and black Adidas pants with three white stripes on them.

The girl is now with her parents.
