Brantford releases plan to boost affordable housing in Lucy Marco Place

A new 26 affordable housing development is under construction on Colborne St. to help those waiting for a home.
The City of Brantford and the County of Brant are implementing new strategies to increase affordable housing inventory.
In October the city bought Lucy Marco Place, which used to house students from Wilfrid Laurier University.

It is going to be used to house people who are on the affordable housing waitlist. As of June, there were about 1,400 households on that list.
The endorsed renovation plan will include a mix of more than 50 one-bedroom units with a few two or three bedroom units.
