Brantford Police explain pedophile arrest

Brantford Police have now clarified why a notorious pedophile was arrested again on Friday.

Police arrested James Cooper, 78, Friday morning “for the protection of society”. They say they do not have a criminal investigation regarding Cooper.

The Hamilton native was considered one of the worst sex offenders in Canadian history. He was sentenced to 30 years in 1993, for torturing and sexually assaulting six children.

Cooper was released to a Brantford halfway house last year, sparking public outrage.
