Police in Brantford have picked up the trail of a woman who disappeared 29-years ago.

Mary Hammond, 25, vanished while walking to work at a bakery in September of 1983. Witnesses saw a brown pick-up truck in the bakery’s parking lot, but it was never found.

During the initial investigation, police found part of Hammond’s footprints, part of her lunch, one of her socks, and a small amount of blood in a nearby field.

New evidence has helped them identify people who may have been involved – including a former Brantford resident who has since passed away.

Police have been searching a home on Market Street in Brantford this past week.
