Brantford actress features in a new Hollywood movie

A Brant County actress has a role in a new Hollywood movie, and it’s a real scream.

22-year-old Devyn Nekoda says she was at an airport after a movie premiere when she thought about quitting acting.

That all changed when she got a roll in the sixth installment of the “Scream” franchise, set in New York City.

Nekoda who is from Scotland, near Brantford, portrays Anika Kayoko in the horror flick.

She was acting alongside big names like Jenna Ortega and Courtney Cox.

Before landing the role in Scream, Nekoda acted in a variety of movies and shows such as “Sneakerella.”

She attributes much of her success to her dance background, saying it also helped her be able to perform a lot of her own stunts.

Nekoda says she is continuing to audition for roles and says she’s excited for her future in acting.
