Brampton man charged after posting video of himself racing

A man has been arrested and charged after police say he filmed a video of himself racing down a street in Brampton.
Peel police say that in June they were made aware of a viral video posted to social media that showed a red Chevrolet Corvette racing against a green motorcycle.

They say that the driver posted the video of himself reaching speeds of 226 kilometres per hour in the area of Steeles Ave. East and Airport Rd., which has a posted speed limit of 80 kilometres per hour.

Through the video posted, investigators were able to identify the driver of the Corvette as 22-year-old Simranjit Singh of Brampton.
On June 30, Singh was arrested and charged in connection with the incident. He now faces seven charges, including dangerous operation and failure to surrender license.
Singh has been conditionally released and is scheduled to appear in court on August 28. His license has been suspended and the Corvette has been impounded.
Investigators are still looking to identify the driver of the green motorcycle and are asking anyone who can identify the driver, witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage of the incident to contact Road Safety Services – Safer Roads Team at 905-453-3311, extension 3710.
