Boy expected to fully recover after garage door injury

Halton Police say a nine-year-old boy who was injured after his jacket got caught on his garage door is expected to make a full recovery.

Police spoke with a family member who said the boy was taken off life support, and his condition has been upgraded from critical.

The boy was hurt on Monday after he opened the garage door using a key pad, and tried to sneak underneath before it had fully lifted. His hoodie got caught, possibly on a door handle. Neighbours heard him screaming and called 9-1-1.

Police say it’s not yet clear when the boy will be released from hospital.
