Boy dead after horse-drawn buggy crash

An unusual car crash has turned tragic as an 11-year-old boy is now dead after a pickup truck hit a horse-drawn buggy in a rural community near Guelph Friday morning.

Three Mennonite boys were in the carriage and were all thrown out when it was hit from behind.

The youngest, Landis Martin, died Saturday in a Hamilton hospital.

Investigators say the 19-year-old driver of the pickup truck didn’t see the buggy.
