Boy, 14, arrested after gun spotted near Oakville school

Halton police have arrested a 14-year-old boy after staff at an Oakville elementary school spotted a teen with a handgun near the building.
An employee at River Oaks Public School contacted police around 5 p.m. Monday after a group of teenagers walked by a window and one of them appeared to be showing a gun to the group.
Police arrested four males a short distance away from the school and found one unloaded handgun inside a backpack. They say no ammunition was found on any of the males.
A 14-year-old Oakville boy has been charged with carry concealed weapon and unauthorized possession of firearm.
The other three boys were released without charges.
Police say the gun was lawfully owned by and registered to someone who lives with the 14-year-old boy.
