Bosma day 30

The jury in the Tim Bosma murder trial today heard a lot more about Mark Smich when his former best friend testified.
23-year-old Brendan Daly identified himself in a photo with Smich outside a Popeye’s fast food restaurant on Kerr Street in Oakville. The two met every day to smoked weed. Smich was Daly’s supplier. Smich and Daly lived near each other when Smich was at his mother’s home on Montrose Abbey.
Daly noticed a change in his friend after Dellen Millard was arrested in connection with Tim Bosma’s disappearance. Daly said Smich was “Nervous, jumpy. Just on edge, always looking over his shoulder.”
Smich then deleted facebook and cancelled his phones and moved to his girlfriend’s sister’s place on Speers Road.
Smich also told Daly about a toolbox that had a gun and a bag of weed were inside. Smich wanted to sell the gun and drugs to get money for a lawyer. The jury has heard the toolbox has gunshot residue inside and the crown believes the Tim Bosma murder weapon was inside, although it has never been recovered.
Daly said Smich repeated several times “I f’d up man, I f’d up.”
We heard that the first time Daly talked to police he tried to cover for Smich, but after talking to his lawyer he realized the implications, he went back to give a third statement to police. Daly has not finished his testimony, he’ll be back on the stand in the morning
