A former on and off love interest to Dellen Millard testified at the Tim Bosma murder trial today. The jury has heard of a girlfriend named Christina Noudga, but this woman was Millard’s real estate agent and also his lover for about a year.

This was the first time the prosecutor had spoken to Lisa Whidden in person, she told the jury that her lawyer advised that she didn’t have to talk to police or the crown and she exercised that right. She seems friendly to Millard, she kept smiling at him while she was in court.

Lisa Whidden told the jury that her intimate relationship with Dellen Millard started after she sold a house in Oakville for him in 2012. It lasted for a year but she said, “it was purposely kept to be very casual.”

She says she hasn’t spoken to Millard since his arrest because she was under a court no-contact order. Otherwise she probably would have sent him a letter, at least.

After the arrest police went to Whidden’s home and asked to see her cell phone. She refused, but mentioned a text message that police might want to see. So they put her in handcuffs and seized her phone and her purse.

The jury saw text messages between the couple. On the evening of May 5th, Whidden asks how Millard’s weekend is going, “working on trading one of my gas trucks for a diesel” Millard says and later adds, “put about five full days into it, over the past 12 months.”

On May 10, Millard tells Whidden his day is “stress filled” and he wants Whidden to tell a mutual friend to stay away “I’m too hot, stay away.” He says “looks bad. I think someone I work with has set me up, I’m not sure why.”

Whidden also helped sell a condo in the Distillery District in Toronto,-even though she didn’t close the deal we heard she got $10 000 when the unit sold. Mark Smich’s lawyer said, “that’s a pretty nice gift. You date a guy for a year, don’t sell anything, and get $10 000.

Jury is back for more evidence tomorrow, we expect more of Dellen Millard’s friends on the stand.
