Body of 7-year-old boy pulled from Petawawa River

A seven-year-old boy has died after falling into the Petawawa River in southeast Ontario.

Police say the child was walking along the river with a friend on Sunday evening and slipped.

Ontario Provincial Police say when the friend went to get help, an adult spotted the little boy’s body in the water and brought him ashore.

They say the adult performed CPR until emergency crews arrived and transported him to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police say foul play is not suspected, A post mortem will be done to confirm the cause of death which is suspected to be drowning.

OPP has identified the boy as Mason Ryan, of Petawawa.
